Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1926

Howard Dunaway JAMES HOWARD DUNAWAY of Gonzales, formerly of Houston, entered into rest on April 4, 1997, at the age of 88. He retired from the Exxon Production Research Lab in Houston in 1969, moving to Gonzales in 1990. His son was James E. Dunaway of Victoria, TX. Survived by: Daughter: Sybil Ann Dunaway of Austin; brother George Alton Dunaway of Cushing, OK; 2 grand- children: Jodi Lynn Bash and husband Thomas Bond of Houston, Benjamin Bash of Austin. Howard was born on Feb. 25, 1909. His family moved to Ranger, TX after he was in high school & graduated from Ranger High School in 1926. His father was a prominent lawyer. His brother, Alton, also graduated from RHS in 1926 and his sister, Katherine, married Ralph Blackman) graduated in 1928. Another sister, Lillian Dunaway Kuntz (RHS-1930), married Ervin Kuntz). James Howard Dunaway was born in Fort Worth, TX to George Washington Dunaway & Elizabeth Butts. He married Holly Annie Guthrie in 1934 in Austin. She died a few years before him on October 31, 1993. They had two children James "Jimmy" Dunaway (died in 1997) & Sybil Anne Dunaway.
