James McLaughlin JAMES RUAN McLAUGHLIN, JR., 29, died in July 29, 1941 in Ranger, TX, with burial in the Eastland City Cemetery at Eastland, TX. He was born on March 23, 1912 in Bridgeport, IL to James R. & May Pickell McLaughlin. James attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1930 at Ranger, TX and married Agnes DeBolt. Their children were James McLaughlin & Patrick McLaughlin. His siblings were Margaret McLaughlin Owens (RHS- Faculty), Gordon McLaughlin, Keith McLaughlin, and Katherine McLaughlin. SON: JAMES RUAN MCLAUGHLIN III, 89, former President & CEO of Doubleday Publishing, passed away peacefully on Dec. 13, 2024. He was born on May 30, 1935 in Ranger, TX. Jim was Valedictorian of his class at Manual Training High School in Peoria, IL, and then earned a BA in Mathematics from the University of Illinois in 1956. He served in the U.S. Air Force, based at Clark Field in the Philippines in the 26th Fighter- Interceptor Squadron between 1958 and 1960. After earning an MBA from Harvard, he worked at Doubleday publishing, starting in the finance department and working his way up to President and CEO of the company. He also served on the Board of Directors for the New York Mets. Jim was an avid collector of jazz music, a voracious reader and a long-time subscriber to the Metropolitan Opera, and American Ballet Theatre. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Kay. He will be deeply missed by partner, Judy Resnick; daughters, Susan and Carolynn; and his two grandchildren.
