JAMES DONALD PHILLIPS, 82, died June 30,
1996, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger,
TX.
He was born on March 20, 1914 in Rotan, TX to
Orus L. & Alice Phillips. By 1920, the Phillips
had moved to Ranger and lived in the Gholson
Edition. James attended Ranger schools and
graduated from Ranger High School in 1931. He
was an accomplished golfer who played his golf
at the old Ranger Country Club. James won the
prestigious West Texas Amateur Golf tournament
in 1932. He later married Bernice Lillian Reuwer
(RHS-1935). They moved to Tulsa, OK in the early
to mid-fifties. Their children were Jerry Don
Phillips, Martha Phillips, & Christine Merritt.
