OPADELL BROWN BAKER, 89, was born Oct. 11,
1911 in Gorman, TX, the youngest of four
children, to Charity Obie Butts & Walter Lee
Brown, and died March 10, 2001 while living
in White Settlement, TX.
She attended Cooper elementary school and Ranger
High School with the Class of 1932 at Ranger, TX,
but may have graduated elsewhere. She had a sister,
Velma (RHS-1929) & two brothers, Claude Brown, and
Vada Leroy Brown. In December of 1933, she married
Jay B. Baker who died in 1994, at White Settlement.
They lived in West Texas & in the Dallas/Fort Worth
area before they moved to Ranger in 1946 where
Jay B. Baker worked for the Lone Star Gas Company
for almost 30 years. They had one son, Jay Dell
Baker (RHS-1962) and who lives in Fort Worth, TX
and a daughter, Sherry Ann Baker Farnsworth (RHS-
1957), who lives in Schaumburg, IL.
Opadell & Velma, their parents, their husbands,
and other relatives are buried in the Evergreen
Cemetery at Ranger.
