DORIS ELAINE DRYDEN HUBBARD was born in Pittsburg,
KS, on Aug. 14, 1914, to George & Zettie Stith Dryden.
She was the eldest of three children. She was 13 years
old when the family settled in Ranger, TX and was in
the RHS Class of 1932. She was married in May of 1931
in Ranger to Seth Lee Hubbard (RHS-1928 and they shared
the bonds of matrimony for 68 years. Doris and Seth
moved to Monahans in 1933, where they worked and
raised a family. Doris worked for Bill Agey at the
Prescription Shop for several years. Later, she was
employed by Furr’s Supermarkets, where she progressed
from working in the meat market to grocery checker to
manager of the drug department. She held the latter
position until her retirement. She was active in Business
Women of America, and served a term as president of the
local club. Doris relished her retirement years. She
was able to spend time with her family in Dallas and
pursued her favorite pastime of playing bridge. She
was a “Pink Lady” at Ward Memorial Hospital for 25
years. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist
Church of Monahans.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved grandson,
Scott, her son Mickey, and her husband Seth, as well
as her sister Betty and her brother Bob. Her memory
and legacy lives on in a son Don (Donnie), of the home,
grandson Marc Hubbard of Dallas, granddaughter Sandi
Hubbard of New York City, and great-grandsons Charlie
and John.
She is buried next to her son and grandson at Restland
Memorial Garden in Dallas, TX.
