Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1932

LYLE HALEY MACE, 92, died on May 30, 2006, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX. Mr. Mace was born Aug. 21, 1913 in Stratford, OK, to the late Nettie Lingle and Walter Mace. As an infant he traveled by covered wagon to Texas. When they got to the Red River it was too high to cross. They camped for several days with other travelers while waiting for the water to recede. They eventually settled in Ranger, TX where Lyle received his education at Ranger High School in the Class of 1932. He married Fern Elizabeth Litton in July of 1934, in Breckenridge. She preceded him in death in 1961. He later married Norma Lee Fawcett & she preceded him in death in 1995. During WWII, he worked at the Houston Shipyard as a welder repairing ships damaged in the conflict. Lyle & Fern moved to Graham where he went to work for Texas Pipeline Company as a welder. He loved his job, which entailed traveling all over the U.S. After many years he retired from Texas Pipeline Co. as an inspector. He played the steel guitar and sang in his church and with a band. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church & Elks Lodge. Survivors include a son, Jimmy W. Mace and wife Terri of North Richland Hills; sister, Maydell Mace Roquemore (RHS-1938) of Ponca City, OK; sister-in-law, Wilma Mace of Odessa; & numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Mace was preceded in death by a sister Vila Sharp and brothers, Henry Artie Mace & Jack Mace (RHS-1937).
