JOE BURKETT WEEKES, 74, died on April 23,
1990. He was born on July 5, 1916 in the Cheaney
Community to Frank & Nona (Clem) Weekes. He attended
Ranger High School at Ranger, TX. Joe married
Marjorie Moon at Strawn, TX in Jan. of 1942. He
enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific
Theatre. He is survived by his wife, two daughters
Joy & Betty Jo, & one sister Betty Weekes Veyran
(RHS-1940).
WIFE: MARJORIE E. MOON WEEKES, 83, died
on May 25, 2004 in Stephenville, TX, with burial in
Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX.
Mrs. Weekes was born in Morton Valley, TX on May 11,
1921. She was the daughter of Earl & Myrtle (Whatley)
Moon. She was a 1938 graduate of Strawn High School &
married Joe Weekes at Strawn, TX in Jan. of 1942. He
preceded her in death. She was a secretary for the
Ranger School for many years, and was a member of the
First Baptist Church.
Survivors at the time of her death include daughters
Betty Joe Goleman of Phoenix, AZ, and Joy Felan and
Trey of Stephenville, sister Betty Gardner of Strawn,
grandsons Buck and Joe Goleman of Phoenix, AZ and
nephews Rod Gardner of Menard, & Ronny Gardner of
San Angelo, TX. NOTE: Her sister Betty Moon Gardner
died May 23, 2019.
