ROBERT LOUIS STEVENS, 83, a retired
painter, died on July 12, 2002 in Fort Worth,
TX, with burial in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Robert Louis Stevens was born Sept. 21, 1918, in
Ranger, TX to Andrew Eugene & Myrtle Mae Copps
Stevens. He attended Hodges Oak Park Elementary
School and Ranger High School, where he played
football from 1934 to 1936.
Robert joined the Civilian Conservation Corps.
during the depth of the world depression. He
painted pipelines for the Lone Star Gas Company
until World War II. He then joined the Army
serving as a sergeant during the war. After
the war he served a brief stint with Convair.
Robert then painted houses until his retirement.
He was owner of the Greenville Avenue Bar and
Grill during the 70s.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents;
brothers, Roy W. Stevens (RHS-1931), Bernis L.
Stevens (RHS-1928), Preston M. Stevens, Joe D.
Stevens, Gerald E. Stevens, & W. Howard "Bill"
Stevens (RHS-1942); sisters, Lois E. Stevens
Traywick (RHS-1925) & Mildred Stevens Anderson
(RHS-1935).
Survivors at the time of his death: brothers,
Floyd A. and James W. Stevens and wife, Sue,
all of Fort Worth.
