BEATRICE L. "BEA" HATTON FUNDERBURK, 83,
Breckenridge resident, died on March 8, 2003
in Abilene, with burial in Bullock Cemetery
near Ranger, TX.
She was born Beatrice Lee Hatton to James S.
Hatton and Margie Waggoner Hatton on Sept. 20,
1919, in Ranger. She attended schools in Ranger
and graduated from Ranger High School. She
married Mack Funderburk in May of 1947, in
Breckenridge. She was a homemaker. She was a
member of First Baptist Church where she was
involved in Women's Missionary Union. She
had been a Sunday School Teacher and a Vacation
Bible School Teacher for over 30 years. She
had been a member of the Martha Sunday Class
and was presently a member of the Carrie Bates
Sunday School Class.
Survivors at the time of her death include her
husband, Mack Funderburk of Breckenridge; two
sons and daughter-in-law, Eddie Mack and Carolyn
Funderburk of Granbury and Tony Gregg & Maria
Funderburk of Belton; one sister, Margaret
Hatton Blankenship (RHS-1942) of Ranger; four
grandchildren, Cheri Carr of Granbury, Greg
Funderburk of Cleburne and Thomas Funderburk
and Virginia Funderburk of Belton; two great-
grandchildren, Tanner Carr and Peri Carr both
of Granbury.
She was preceded in death by her parents and
one sister, Wilma Jennings. Her mother, Margie
Waggoner Hatton died in Ranger in 1978.
HUSBAND: MACK FUNDERBURK, 90, of Breckenridge,
TX passed away March 20, 2014, with burial at
Bullock Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
Mack was born Dec. 31, 1923 in the Frankell
Community in Stephens County, to parents George
Funderburk and Rosa Gene Yarbrough Funderburk.
Mr. Funderburk joined the United States Marine
Corp in 1942. He was a Sergeant in the 3rd Marine
Division and served in World War II at Iwo Jima,
Guadalcanal, Guam, Marshall Islands & Pearl Harbor.
After his discharge from Marine Barricks, Treasure
Island, San Francisco, Calif. in 1946, he married
Beatrice Lee Hatton in May of 1947, in Breckenridge.
Mack worked as a ditching contractor until retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George
Funderburk and Rosa Gene Funderburk; and his wife,
Beatrice Lee Funderburk.
Mr. Funderburk is survived by his two sons: Eddie
Funderburk and wife Carolyn of Granbury, Tony
Funderburk and wife Mary of Burleson; four grand-
children: Cheri Carr of Granbury, Greg Funderburk
and wife Marcy of Cleburne, Virginia Stonehocker
and husband, Jeremiah of Euless & Thomas Funderburk
and wife Christa of Oklahoma City; six great-grand-
children: Tanner Carr, Peri Carr, Peyton Funderburk,
Gryffin Funderburk, Noble Funderburk, Knight Funderburk;
and one sister, Waldean McKinney of New Mexico.
