MARGARET BERLIN BEARD ABRAHAM, 82, was born
Oct. 14, 1919, in Ranger, TX & passed away June 24,
2002 near Rose Hill, KS, at her son's home, Burl
Abraham.
Her parents were Amos F. & Ida Stephens Beard. They
moved through Kansas staying in Augusta from 1918-
1919 working in the oil fields, finally settling
in Texas. They had four children Madge Velma Beard
Jennison, Wilbur Roger Beard, Margaret Berlin Beard,
& Betty Ruth Beard White (RHS-1944). Margaret
graduated in the Ranger High School Class of 1937
at Ranger, TX. Following graduation, she attended
Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in El Paso, TX, graduated
in 1941. For a short time, she worked as a registered
nurse in Sherman, TX.
In Jan. of 1942, she married Elwyn Maple Abraham of
Rosalia, KS in Ranger. For sometime during World
War II, Margaret lived in Texas while her husband
was overseas in the war. She lived in Kansas at
rural Leon and Latham before moving to Wichita and
later to Rose Hill where she passed away. They had
eleven children of which nine are still living. She
was an active member of the Church of Christ. She
& Elwyn were volunteers at the Rose Hill Heritage
Village Nursing Home from 1984-1996 and received
awards for their service.
