Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1938

Ross Hodges ROSS HODGES, 79, died on June 17, 2000, in Abilene, TX, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX. Mr. Hodges was born in Ranger, a twin, to Opie Bristow & Dr. Bob Hodges on Feb. 25, 1921, and was a graduate of Ranger High School in 1938. He attended Texas A&M University & was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran. He served as a flight officer in the U.S. Navy and AAC from 1942 to 1946. He married Mozelle Bradley in 1947. Mr. Hodges lived in Ranger all of his life and retired as postmaster and served as president of the Ranger Independent School District board of trustees. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors at the time of his death include his wife, Mozelle of Ranger; two daughters, Alice Birkhimer of Weatherford and Dixie Haggard of Snyder; one son, Brad Hodges of Ranger; his twin brother, Dr. Dick Hodges (RHS-1938) of Olden; and six grandchildren. Another brother was Robert Hodges, Jr. WIFE: MOZELLE BRADLEY HODGES, 87, of Ranger, passed away on April 5, 2012 in an Abilene hospital. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger. She was born on November 11, 1924 in New Home, TX, to Fred and Mary E. Peterson Bradley. She married Ross Hodges in March of 1947 in Miles, TX, and he preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Hodges was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ranger and she loved her family, reading, cooking, and sewing. She has lived in Ranger since 1961, moving from Fort Worth. She was also preceded in death by her parents; grand- daughter: Whitney Haggard in 1981; brother: Delmon Bradley; and her sister: Wanda Damron. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Bradley (RHS-1968) and Debra Hodges of Ranger; daughters: Alice Birkhimer (RHS-1966) of Weatherford & Dixie Haggard (RHS- 1966) of Snyder; sister: Madolynn Wilson of Richardson; grandchildren: Donna Crenshaw, Russell Birkhimer, Randi Busby and husband Richard, Katie Haggard, Hannah Hodges (RHS-2009), & Emily Hodges (RHS-2011); and great-grand- children: Jenna Birkhimer, Hudson Birkhimer, Lindsay Busby and Zoey Busby.
