ROGER H. WALTON of San Antonio, TX, went to the Lord on May 12,
2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Rosie,
wife Nell (Nix) & son Roger E. Walton. Burial was at Ft. Sam
Houston.
He was survived by wife Shirley Hill Walton, son Phillip Walton
(Jane), brother Earl T. (Lillie) Walton Jr., 7 grandchildren and
13 great-grandchildren. His sisters were Margaret Walton Jordan
(RHS-1926) and Zada Walton Stacks (RHS-1927).
Roger was born in Ranger, TX in 1921 to E.T. Walton Sr. & Bertha
Harbord. He attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1938 &
moved to San Antonio in 1936 graduating from Fox Tech High School.
Roger served in WWII, ran a variety of businesses in San Antonio,
the last of which was M. Jacks Fire & Safety retiring to the Hill
Country. Roger was a faithful member of Evers Road Christian
Church and a man of great faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
BROTHER: EARL THOMAS WALTON, JR. went to the Lord on April 1, 2011.
Burial was at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lillie Grace Walton, sons,
Edward Walton (Glenda) of Cincinnati and Dan Walton (Elaine) of
San Antonio, 4 grand-children, Amy Walton Phillips and Joshua Walton
(Cincinnati) and Amanda Walton Ailor (Washington DC) and Cody Walton
(San Antonio) and 4 great-grand children Lawson, Wade and Grace
Phillips and Isaac Walton all of Cincinnati.
Earl was born in San Antonio, TX on Feb. 17, 1919 to E.T. Walton Sr.,
and Bertha Harbord. After spending his childhood in Ranger, TX, he
returned to San Antonio in 1936 and attended Fox Tech High School.
Earl was a Army veteran of WWII and served in the 36th Division,
141st Infantry. After the war he worked Civil Service at Fort Sam
Houston until he retired in 1971. Earl was a faithful member of
Evers Road Christian Church where he served as an Elder, a teacher
and chairman of the board. Devoted husband, caring father and loving
grandfather who loved to read and quote poetry. Standing firm until
the end, an example of faithfulness, he considered himself rich due
to his life in his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. He may have attended
Ranger High School but there is no record.
