LEE ROY JAY of Gridley, CA, died at the age
of 84 on Sept. 9, 2006 in Yuba City, CA, with
burial in the Riverside National Cemetery.
He was born in Ranger, TX on Sept. 8, 1922. Lee
attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1941.
Roy worked as a salesman for Imperial Hardware Co.
in Indio, CA, and then as a furniture manager for
Imperial Furniture from 1960-1971 in Riverside, CA.
He was store manager for Imperial Furniture from
1971-1986 in Indio, CA.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1941-
1946 as Pharmacists Mate 2nd Class. He was also at
the U.S. Naval Hospital in Corona, CA during the
Korean War from 1951 to 1952.
He relocated to Indio in 1947. Lee Roy Jay married
Joyce Eugenia Michaelsen in 1949.
He moved to Riverside in 1960; returned to Indio in
1971; moved to San Diego in 1986; and then moved to
Gridley, CA in 1995, where he resided in the area for
10 years.
At the time of his death, he was survived by daughters
Charlotte Lockhart of Biggs, CA, and Carolynn Plummer
of Santee, CA; sons Larry Jay of Yucca Valley, CA, and
Randy Jay of LaQuinta, CA; 7 grandchildren; sisters
Elizabeth Jay Waynich (RHS-1937) of Benbrook, TX,
Deluia Jay Blair (RHS-1936) of Riverside, CA, and
JoAnne Jay Henderson of San Antonio, TX; brothers
Carlon Jay (RHS-1944) of Wichita Falls, TX, & James
Wesley Jay of Keller, TX. Other siblings are Una
Joan Jay and Carlon B. Jay.
