Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1941

Jennings Thompson JENNINGS BIRDWELL "JB" THOMPSON peacefully passed away on May 24, 2009, at the age of 84, after an 8 year struggle with Alzheimer's, with interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, TX. JB was born the 11th of September 1924, in Fort Worth, TX. Following his graduation from Ranger High School Class of 1941 at Ranger, TX, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, graduated flight school & was commissioned as Second Lieutenant. After returning to Texas A&M, he graduated with his Class of 1946, with a degree in mechanical engineering. Marjorie & JB married in 1954. He then graduated from SMU Law School in 1959. They settled in West University Place where he became very active in the community and represented the city as a councilman and Mayor pro-tem. He also represented the city as a board member of the Harris Galveston Subsidence District. Over his lifetime he was involved in the Optimist Club, Boy Scouts, Houston Bar Association, Houston A&M Club and coaching. JB was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. JB worked & loved being in the intellectual property field including being an expert witness for his and other law firms. His hobbies included dancing, tennis, playing poker, vacationing at the beach and tailgating at the A&M football games. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Jane Hunt Thompson, and his son, George Lance Thompson. He is survived by his son Robert, his daughter Kay, daughters-in-law Karen Thompson and Anita Thompson and 4 grandchildren; Samantha, Melanie, Joshua and Marjorie Thompson.
