Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1943

ALVA ROYCE "LAVOICE" KIM, 73, died on Jan. 21, 1998, in Abilene, TX,ith burial at the Old Dublin Memorial Park in Dublin, TX. Mr. Kim was born in Thurber, TX & attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1943 at Ranger, TX but graduated from Eliasville High School. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and moved to Hamlin in 1953 from Eastland. He worked as a plant operator for PETCO Oil Co., formerly T&P Oil, until retiring in 1983. He was a member of Four Winds Motorcycle Club, Calico Kickers Square Dance Club & First Baptist Church and was the widower of Mildred LaBaume Kim, whom he married in 1946 in Ranger. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stacy L. Kim (RHS-1944) Survivors at the time of his death include a longtime companion, Elsie Ammons of Hawley; four daughters, Paula McMinn of Abilene, Connie Somers of Norman, OK, and Jamie Collins and Judy Acklin, both of Hamlin; his mother, Louise Cowan Kim Kelley of Eastland; one brother, Noel Kim (RHS-1953) of Eastland; seven grandchildren; & two great-grandchildren.
