Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1944 RJC

Amelia Walker ALLA AMELIA "DEE" WALKER, 18, was the daughter of Blanche Alla Hutchison & Calvin Hall Walker. She & her twin brother, Alton Wesley Walker were born in Ranger, TX on Jan. 18, 1928. Amelia was Valedictorian of the Ranger High School Class of 1944 and Wesley was in the Class of 1945. Their father was Calvin Hall Walker, prominent Ranger banker and investor who was also Ranger Mayor in the years 1937-1943. Amelia died young and so tragically as the result of being thrown from he horse while she was still a student. She died on Aug. 26, 1946, at the age of 18, just one month after the death of her mother who died at the age of 46. Amelia had just completed Ranger Jr. College in the spring. FATHER: CALVIN HALL WALKER, 83, was born Sept. 2, 1896 & died in Ranger on Nov. 16, 1979. He married Blanche Alla Hutchison, who died in Ranger in 1946. They had two children, twins, Alla Amelia "Dee" Walker (RHS-1944) and Alton Wesley Walker (RHS-1945) of Cisco. Amelia died in 1946 at the age of 18, just one month after the death of her mother who died at the age of 46. Mr. Hall Walker was later married to the widow, Anna Azaline Cox Pulley (RHS-1923). He was a prominent banker/investor, one of Ranger's leading citizens and was Mayor of Ranger in 1937- 1943. He was also vice-president of Social Science Laboratories in Ranger.
