JACK E. TOWNZEN, 77, passed away Oct. 28, 2004
with family by his side. Jack was born to Grayson
Arthur & Edna Mae Scroggins Townzen in Strawn, TX,
on Dec. 18, 1926. He grew up in Ranger, TX and
graduated from Ranger High School and Ranger Jr.
College. After serving in the U.S. Navy during
WWII, he met and married Mary Garren of Odessa in
Dec. of 1949. They moved to Midland in 1960 to
manage a Murphy & Rochester insurance and real
estate office. Jack was a member & past president
of the Midland Home-builders Association; many
Midlander's still live in a Townzen built home.
Being of 32nd Degree KCCH Mason, he was also a
past president of both Midland and Odessa Scottish
Rite Associations. Jack loved all sports and was
an avid out-doorman who especially loved to hunt
and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son
Jack Townsen Jr., brothers, James Townsen (RHS-
1941), Thomas "Tom" Townsen, B.E. "Red" Townsen
(RHS-1948), and Robert Townsen (RHS-1965).
Jack is survived by Mary, his wife of 54 years;
son, Mark Townsen with wife Crystal and grandson
Curtis of Ft. Worth; sister, Mary Lou Townsen (RHS-
1949) and husband Jimmy Samford of Austin and many
cousins, nieces and nephews.
