BAILEY LEMLEY WOODS, SR., 73, of Arlington, TX
died on Nov. 23, 2000 in Arlington, with interment
in Cross Roads Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
Mr. Woods was born in Eastland County & raised in
the Ranger area. He served in the U.S. Army during
the occupation of Japan. He attended Ranger College
and Abilene Christian University. He married Norma
Jean Stracener in Westlake, LA. He worked in the
oilfield for 35 years, before becoming a Nurses'
Assistant at Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Angelo,
after which he retired and moved to Arlington.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife,
Norma Jean Woods of Arlington; a son, Bailey Kabe
Woods of Simsbury, CT; a daughter, Cindy Katrina
Rhodes of Mansfield; two brothers, Tim Woods (RHS-
1951) of Granbury and Floyd Woods (RHS-1954) of
Odessa; two sisters, Gwen Woods Bonner (RHS-1948)
of Hico and Cevellia Woods Barron (RHS-1954) of
Abilene; and five grandchildren.
WIFE: NORMA JEAN WOODS, 63, passed away April 29,
2002 in Arlington, with burial in Crossroads Cemetery
near Ranger, TX.
Mrs. Woods was born on Oct. 7, 1938 in Weslake,
Louisiana to Arlie and Lena Mae (Wood) Stracener.
She grew up in Louisiana and attended school there.
She met and married Bailey Woods (RHS-1945) in March
of 1954 in Weslake, Louisiana and he preceded her in
death in 2000. They lived in numerous locations before
settling in Arlington. Mrs. Woods was a member of
the New York Avenue Church of Christ in Arlington.
She was a housewife and mother.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Woods is survived by:
son, Kabe Woods of Simsbury, Connecticut; daughter,
Katrina Rhodes of Mansfield, TX; two brothers, Wayne
Stacener of Rock Island, IL and Terry Stracener of
Weslake, Louisiana; one sister, Arlena Holcomb of
Rock Island, Louisiana; 5 grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
BROTHER: TRUMAN WOODS, 93, died on Dec. 22, 1999
at his home, with burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in
Brownwood, TX.
Mr. Woods was born in Ranger, TX & had lived in Brownwood
since 1940. He married Rosa M. Lee in Brownwood in 1927.
He was a blacksmith and a member of Belle Plain Baptist
Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife, of
Brownwood; two daughters, Fay Nell Holamon of Brownwood,
Marie Fields of Abilene; one son, Grady Woods of Lillian;
seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-
great-grandchildren. His brother was Bailey L. Woods (RHS-
1945) and his sister was Mollie Woods Neal.
