ROLAND B. "BRELAND" WALLACE, 71, died Feb. 4,
1999, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery at
Ranger, TX.
Mr. Wallace was born in Ranger to Gertie Squires
and Elmer E. Wallace on July 4, 1927, where he
grew up. He attended Ranger High School in the
Class of 1945 and married Jene Ball in 1948.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean
Conflict. He operated the Pontiac dealership in
Ranger from 1956-58. He moved to Abilene in 1960,
where he operated Pine Street Motors, The Auto
Auction, East I-20 Wrecking Yard, and Elmdale
Motors before retiring in 1989. He was a member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Eastland.
He had two sons, Breland "Dusty" Wallace and
Sandy Wallace of Elmdale; and one daughter,
Lerena Wiggins. His brother was Farrell Buchanan
(RHS-1954).
WIFE: AUGUSTINE "GAGGA JENE" BALL WALLACE, 73,
died on Jan. 14, 2006.
She was born Sept. 24, 1932 in Stanton, TX, to
Tom and Irene Ball. She married the love of her
life, R.B. Wallace in Ranger, TX, in July of 1948.
He preceded her in death in 1999. Jene was a
retired hairdresser, previous owner of Starlight
Beauty Salon and a homemaker.
She is survived by 2 sons, Breland "Dusty" Wallace
and wife, Elaine of North Richland Hills, TX and
Roland "Sandy" Wallace and wife, Vicki of Abilene,
Texas; 1 daughter, Lerena Wiggins and husband,
Gereld of Checotah, OK; 6 grandsons, Brad Wallace
of Arlington, Brandon Wallace and wife, Michelle
of Abilene, Brent Wallace of Abilene, Casey Loper
of Tahlequah, OK, Jared Wallace of North Richland
Hills, and Derek Wallace of North Richland Hills;
1 granddaughter, Misty Loper of Stigler, OK, two
great-grandchildren, Roland "Drake" & Camri Wallace
of Abilene. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Odis
Ball (RHS-1955), Jerry Ball (RHS-1958) & C.L.
Ball all of Houston and her best friend and only
sister, Lavern Warren of Trinidad, TX; two very
special nephews, Melvin Patterson of Chandler, TX
and Wayne Patterson of Trinidad, TX along with
numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Gagga had a light of her own that will be irreplaceable
and cherished in all our memories.
