JAMES EDWARD "BUD" GUESS, 75, died on Nov. 14,
2002, with burial at the City of Levelland Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Lacasa and married
Jean Anz in July of 1948, in Breckenridge, TX. He
attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1945
at Ranger, TX. He was a lifelong Texan and had
lived in Levelland since 1963, moving from Midland.
He retired as owner of Commercial Printing in
Levelland.
He was a past master of Levelland Masonic Lodge No.
1236, past worthy patron of Levelland Order of
Eastern Star, charter member of Lubbock Scottish
Rite & a member of First Baptist Church in Levelland.
He was past president of Levelland Lions Club, past
president of Levelland Exchange Club and was a former
Levelland city councilman. He was a World War II
veteran having served with the U.S. Navy on Okinawa.
A son, Forrest, died in 1988. Survivors at the time
of his death include his wife; a son, Donny of
Levelland; a daughter, Cheryl Coleman of Levelland;
a brother, Billie Guess of Ranger; six grand-children;
and nine great-grandchildren. Mary Guess Colman
(RHS-1945) was his sister.
