BEAUFORT ELAINE BRAZDA HOWE, 78, passed away
July 19, 2009, with burial at Restland Cemetery in
Dallas, TX.
Born on Sept. 27, 1930 to Dr. Adolph William Brazda
& Ellie Carter Brazda in Stockton, CA.
Predeceased by her mother, father, sister Patricia
Yvonne Brazda, brother Bill Brazda (RHS-1954), her
husband Melvin A. Howe, and son-in-law Cpt. Lester
D. Rader III.
Survived by her children and their spouses: daughter
Rebecca Howe Rader of Dallas, son William Lawrence
Howe and Holly of Duncan, BC, daughter Missy Howe
Lemmon and Terry of Jefferson, TX., and son Daniel
Howe of Dallas; four grandchildren: Doyle Rader IV;
Torin and Connor Howe; Michael Winspear and numerous
step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins &
nieces.
Mom and her family moved numerous times during her
younger years with one of her favorite places being
Richwood, West Virginia. They settled in Ranger TX
where mother graduated from H.S. at age 16 in 1946.
She attended Sophie Newcomb in New Orleans for two
years, transferred to SMU where she graduated in
1950 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She married
in November of 1951 working until starting the
family in 1954. After raising the four children
she made the difficult and personal decision to
return to the work place. Mom began working for
the Tejas Girl Scout Council in 1970 as a Field
Adviser. After holding various positions within
the organization, she retired as the Associate
Executive Director in 1989. During her tenure she
was active in the community serving on boards &
acting as adviser for multiple organizations
emphasizing the betterment of family and youth
of her community. She spent many enjoyable hours
volunteering for the Dallas Museum of Art, DISD,
and the Arboretum. Mom also loved gardening,
travel and reading. She was proud of her family,
her home and her career. Mom never minced words,
was strong in her beliefs and confident in her
convictions. She was a loving, generous and
passionate woman who will be greatly missed by
her family, friends and neighbors.
