BETTY SUE AMES BROWN, 76, passed away on Dec. 15,
2006 in Fort Worth, TX, with burial in Ames Cemetery
in Ranger, TX.
Betty Sue was born in Ranger on Oct. 20, 1930 to
James Becton Ames, Sr. & Frona Carr Ames. She
graduated from both Ranger High School (1947) &
Ranger Jr. College (1949) and attended the
University of Texas in Austin. She took pride in
her first job in Fort Worth with Bache & Company,
a member of the New York Stock Exchange, where she
was secretary to the branch manager. At the time
it was located in Fort Worth's tallest building,
the Fair building. She was a 35 year employee of
Southwestern Petroleum Corporation (SWEPCO), where
for 20 years she was personal secretary to W.R.
Pedin, vice-president of purchasing. She was married
to Bill Barker and Bill Brown, and by each marriage
had two children.
She was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren,
Tristan Don Yancey and Emily Nicole Johnson, her
parents J.B., Sr. and Frona Ames, a sister Doris
Rice Garding (RHS-1937) and a brother Lt. J.B Ames,
Jr.
She is survived by two sons Bruce Barker of Bowie,
Phillip Brown of Fort Worth, two daughters Doris
Douglass of Eudora Kansas and Regina Muscara of
Decatur Texas, eleven grandchildren, Michelle,
John, Julie, Christy, Wendy, Lacey, Cody, Brittany,
Nicholas, Nicole, and James, and six great-grand-
children Justin, Martez, Abby, Hannah, Johnathon,
and Adam. Also surviving are two nephews Mike
Herrington (RHS-1960) of Fort Worth and Edd
Herrington (RHS-1968) of Irving.

high school.
