MAX L. JUDY, 16, son of Mr. & Mrs. B.R. Judy, died
on April 8, 1948 from an accident at a chat pile
northeast of Ranger, TX. According to reports
of the accident, Judy with Bobby Joe James and
A.J. Tanner had driven a truck to the scene of
the accident to take on a load of chat. The truck
was backed under a ledge of chat for the purpose
of loading. As the truck was driven under the
ledge, the ledge caved in completely burying Judy.
He was rushed to the Ranger General Hospital by
the other two boys but was dead on arrival. Attend-
ing physicians stated that he died of suffocation
and injuries. Interment was in the Evergreen
Cemetery in Ranger.
Max Judy was born in Ranger on April 23, 1931 and had
made his home there all of his life. He was a sophomore
in Ranger High School and a member of the school band
at the time of his death. His brothers were Mervin R.
Judy, Wayne Judy, Jack D. Judy, Billie N. Judy, Noel
Judy (RHS-1951). His sisters were Mrs. E.D. Langwell
and Mrs. R.P. Getts. The 1948 Ranger Bulldog yearbook
was dedicated in memory to Max Judy and to Leo Miller
(RHS-1948).
