Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1949 RJC

Charles Wheat CHARLES WELDON WHEAT, 31, son of Mrs. Mary Wheat of Ranger and the late Jesse L. Wheat, was killed in 1963 in an auto accident, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX. Charles was born April 7, 1932 in the Colony Community, he attended school there, at Morton Valley and Ranger High School. He was a member of the 1949 graduating class of Ranger High School. He was a member of the basketball team and of the Ranger Bulldog football team. He attended Ranger Junior College about two months, moving to Odessa where he worked in the oil fields for some time. Charles married the former Wilda Jean Thomas there in December of 1951. For the past three years he had been associated with the Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance Company in Odessa. In 1962, he was promoted to the office of District Manager in Greenville and moved there with his family. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Greenville. He had three daughters: Charlotte, Phyliss and Lisa; one son, Weldon Keith; five brothers - Lee Wheat, Dale Wheat, Finis Wheat (RHS-1941), Johnny D. Wheat and Royce Wheat; two sisters - Mrs. Thelma Shepperd & Mrs. Patsy Herrington.
