CHARLES WELDON WHEAT, 31, son of Mrs. Mary
Wheat of Ranger and the late Jesse L. Wheat, was
killed in 1963 in an auto accident, with interment
at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
Charles was born April 7, 1932 in the Colony Community,
he attended school there, at Morton Valley and Ranger
High School. He was a member of the 1949 graduating
class of Ranger High School. He was a member of the
basketball team and of the Ranger Bulldog football
team. He attended Ranger Junior College about two
months, moving to Odessa where he worked in the oil
fields for some time. Charles married the former
Wilda Jean Thomas there in December of 1951. For
the past three years he had been associated with the
Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance Company in Odessa.
In 1962, he was promoted to the office of District
Manager in Greenville and moved there with his family.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Greenville. He
had three daughters: Charlotte, Phyliss and Lisa; one
son, Weldon Keith; five brothers - Lee Wheat, Dale Wheat,
Finis Wheat (RHS-1941), Johnny D. Wheat and Royce Wheat;
two sisters - Mrs. Thelma Shepperd & Mrs. Patsy Herrington.
