Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1950

Bettye Wymer BETTYE LAVERNE WYMER WILLIAMS, 75, of Ranger, TX passed away Oct. 14, 2008 at her home, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX. Bettye was born on Dec. 28, 1932 in Stephens County, TX to Robert Bennet & Maudene (Morton) Wymer. She attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1950 and played basketball in high school and was a Subdeb. She married David L. Williams (RHS-1950) in May of 1949 at the Ranger Christian Church and were married for 54 years before David passed away on Dec. 26, 2003, they traveled and lived overseas for seventeen years in Libya, Brazil, Kuwait Ghana, Dahome West Africa and Venezuela. Bettye and David helped missionary families in Libya and Brazil and they started three small churches with youth groups. She taught Sunday school classes in Libya, Brazil and Ranger. At various times, they helped raise six other children and sent several through college. That’s what they loved doing...helping others. Bettye is affectionately known to her grandchildren, nephews & great-grandchildren as "Nana". She loved cooking, working in home health care and her family. She is preceded in death by her husband David L. Williams, sisters Helen Wymer Plumley (RHS-1947) and Dorothy Wymer Beck (RHS-1944), her father and mother Bob & Maudene Wymer. Bettye is survived by her daughter Jolene Williams (RHS-1969) of Ranger, two grandsons Robby Needham & wife Lisa of Virginia, Justin Koerner (RHS-1999) and wife Miranda of Ranger, sisters Shirley Wymer Griffith (RHS-1956) of Ranger and Bobbie Wymer Harbin (RHS-1946) of San Angelo, TX. She will be greatly missed by family and friends, especially her five great-grandchildren; Marcus Marsh, Caleb and MaKenna Koerner, Holly and Mitchell Needham and two very special nephews; Rocky Massegee (RHS-1986) and Dango Griffith (RHS-1992) as well as Travis, Wesley and Shelby Harvel.
