Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1951

Marlene Langford Layne MARLENE LANGFORD LAYNE, 79, of Breckenridge, TX, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 21, 2011 at her residence, with interment in the Mount Zion Cemetery near Ranger, TX. Marlene Langford was born at the house on the family farm in Frankell, TX, Stephens County to parents Marlow Langford and Ruth Stuard Langford. She grew up in Frankell and attended Frankell Elementary until 4th grade and then had to ride the bus to Ranger to finish her school years. Marlene met Bill Layne at the Ranger roller rink in 1948 during the Christmas holidays. They were married in December of 1949 at New Hope Baptist Church #3 parsonage at La Casa Community. They moved to Fort Worth where Marlene made their home for 43 years. Marlene was a member of the Oakes Garden Club of Fort Worth where she served as President of the club. She also taught Sunday School at Burton Hills Baptist Church where they were members for 43 years. She worked for Convair (now General Dynamics.) Bill and Marlene moved to Breckenridge in 1995 and are members of New Hope Baptist Church #3. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Buddie Ray Langford and one sister Jerry Ruth Kyle. At the time of her death, Marlene was survived by her husband of 61 years, Bill Layne; one son, Gary David Layne and wife Denise; two brothers, Terry Langford and wife Lisa; Ronnie Langford and wife Rosemary, all of Breckenridge; one sister, Margaret Jo Gailey (RHS- 1951) and husband Bob (RHS-1951) of Desdemona; two grandchildren, Crissy Layne and Brian Williamson and numerous nieces and nephews.
