ORVEL MEARDUTH GIBBS, 85, went home to be with
the Lord on Nov. 24, 2020, with interment in the
Simpson Cemetery at Kokomo, TX.
Orvel was born on Oct. 5, 1935 in Somerville Cty,
TX to Charlie "Bud" & Mary Beatrice "Bea" Hubble
Gibbs. He attended Ranger High School in the Class
of 1955 at Ranger, TX. Orvel married Mary Louise
Shue in Aug. of 1956 in Fort Worth, they enjoyed
63 years of marriage until her passing in 2019.
Orvel was a successful gospel musician, ran a
thriving candy business, & worked as a helicopter
mechanic prior to his retirement. He had a passion
for gospel music, its history, and serving the Lord.
He is survived by his son, Terry Gibbs and wife,
Tammie; daughters, Cindy Dickerson, Charlotte Hicks,
and Sherry Elmore and husband, Tim; brothers, Jerry
Gibbs (RHS-1968) and Charlie Jackson Gibbs and wife,
Delores; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;
and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by his parents; wife;
daughter, Teresa Rawlings; sister, Inez Gibbs; and
brother, Ronnie Gibbs (RHS-1963).
