Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1958

Jeanette Herring Mitchell JEANETTE HERRING MITCHELL, 85, better known as "nana", for the past 24 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 14, 2023 in Amarillo, TX, with burial in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Jeanette was born on Feb. 01, 1938 in Stamford, TX to T.C. & Alnora Pauline Herring. She attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1956 at Ranger, TX. Jeanette married the love of her life, Wayne Mitchell in Aug. of 1961. They were married almost 60 years. Jeanette & Wayne built their home, family and lives in Amarillo. Jeanette worked as a meat wrapper during her many years of employment until she retired. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with family, time outdoors in her garden growing her favorite flowers, Zinnias. Jeanette enjoyed camping and fishing, she loved to cook and bake as well as canning foods. She also loved hosting annual fish fries in her home for family & friends. Jeanette loved being surrounded by her family, including her 4 grandchildren that she cherished! Time would be spent around the table playing her favorite game, WaaHoo. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Mitchell; one infant son, Dana Dwayne Mitchell; two brothers, Dale Herring (RHS-1959) and Ricky Herring. Survivors include her two daughters, Crystal Polk and husband Don of Amarillo, Tanya Bertelson of Lubbock; four grandchildren; Kelsey Polk, Kate Bertelson, Karm Polk and Emma Bertelson; nephews and nieces, Grayson Herring, Cary Herring, Dewayne Herring, Krista Mall, and Cathy Herring Taylor and a host of other family members.
