Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1960

Betty Koerner Gilbert BETTY RUTH KOERNER GILBERT, 71, passed away on Dec. 1, 2013 in Abilene, TX with burial at the Merriman Cemetery near Ranger. Betty was born on March 23, 1942 to Ruben & Veoma Alice (Sawyer) Koerner at Ranger, TX. She grew up in Ranger attending Hodges Oak Park School and Ranger High School in the Class of 1960. She married Johnny Gilbert and they made their home in Ranger. Betty was a member of the Ranger Ex's Association and a Member of Merriman Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a Prayer Warrior as well as sweet and thoughtful of others. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnny, 1 son; Larry Howell (RHS-1977) & a daughter, Tina Brown. Survivors include her son: Danny and wife Kelly of Ranger. Her grandchildren which she raised, Melissa Myers and Kimberly Hall both of Eastland, grandson Colton Howell of Ranger. Great-grandchildren Destiny Hall of Eastland, Dylen, Dimere & Dyecil Foster of Eastland, and a host of friends. HUSBAND: JOHNNIE VAUGHN GILBERT, 87, of Ranger, TX, passed away December 14, 2012 at Ranger Care Center. Burial was at Merriman Cemetery near Ranger, TX. Johnnie was born December 2, 1925 in Brownwood, TX to Clarance Curry and Gertrude (Richardson) Gilbert. He worked as a gin operator, a truck driver, & he repaired CBs. He also worked for Bob Carrol for seven years as a security guard. He married Betty Koerner (RHS-1960) in October of 1972 in San Angelo, TX. Johnnie was a member of a Baptist church in Santa Anna, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and a daughter. Survivors at the time of his death include his wife: Betty Gilbert of Ranger, TX, his sons: Britton Gilbert of San Angelo, Texas and Danny Howell of Ranger, his daughters: Diane Warnick of San Angelo, TX, & Kimberly Hall and Melissa Myers of Eastland, TX and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
