Jimmie Don Burnett JIMMIE DON BURNETT, 81, passed away on July 22, 2022 in McKinney, TX, with burial at Alameda Cemetery near Ranger, TX. Jimmie was born Nov. 23, 1940 in Ranger to Luther James Burnett & Lorena Lingle Burnett. He attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1960 and Ranger Jr. College. In July of 1962, he married Gay Nell Blackwell (RHS-1963). They raised two children, James Burnett (RHS-1982) and Melissa (RHS-1985). Gay Nell preceded him in death in 2020. Jimmie was the produce manager for Lawrence Bros. in Ranger for 24 years, formerly known as Food Fare. Prior to that, he owned and operated the Handy Spot, convenience store. He was a member of Mesquite & Rusk Church of Christ. Jimmie will be remembered for his love of nature. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Leon and spending time camping in Colorado. He loved tending to his small garden and raising chickens. Jimmie's children have fond memories of going to rodeos with him, playing golf together, and caring for their horses. Jimmie is survived by his two children, James and Melissa, his daughter-in-law, Wendy, his three grandchildren, Jamie, Mason, and Madilyn, his great-grandchild, Harper, and his sister-in-law, Jan.
