CARL EUGENE "GENE" WHITE, JR., 70, was born in
Ranger, TX on June 15, 1943 to Carl and Helen
Hatfield (RHS-1938) White, and died at his home
in Archer City, TX on Aug. 21, 2013, with burial in
Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX.
Gene attended Young School and Ranger High School
in the Class of 1961-1963. He served for 5 years
in the 7th Infantry Division's 15th Artillery of
the U.S. Army, and served in Korea. He then began
building houses until 1984 when he became employed
for the railroad. He was a foreman on the track gang
until he was injured and had to retire from BNSF
Railroad. He moved to Archer City and opened J&T
Barbecue and later the Chalk Hill Grill where he
worked until his retirement. He was a member of
the Second Baptist Church in Ranger. His favorite
pastime was hunting and fishing.
He and Tommie Jean Huddleston were married in 1983
in Ranger. She preceded him in death on March 5,
2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents
and younger brother, Donnie White (RHS-1974).
At the time of his death, he was survived by his
daughter & grandson, Misty Berend & Tanner Aldridge
of Archer City, brother Charles White (RHS-1960)
of Ranger, and one sister Linda Kay White Miller
(RHS-1967) & husband, Joe of Wichita Falls, TX.
