Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1961

Carolyn Reed Ludwig CAROLYN JEAN REED LUDWIG, 81, of Gonzales, TX passed away on April 2, 2024. Carolyn was born July 18, 1942 in Ranger, TX to Hoyle & Billie Jean Bush Reed. She attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1961 for a short time. Carolyn married Oscar Ludwig in 1991 in Las Vegas, NV. Carolyn was born and raised in Ranger before moving to Post, TX. She had many loving memories of time well spent with her grandmothers learning to cook, sew and garden. The love of sewing followed her through life as she went from doll dresses to hand sewn quilts, she made for each of her grandchildren. Together, she and Oscar made and painted beautiful bird houses for the birds that she loved to watch. Though she was very strong-willed and firm in raising her children, she was also very loving and treasured every moment with her grandchildren. The lessons she learned in the kitchen with her grandmothers were often celebrated by her family. Her Thanksgiving turkey and dressing are legendary where even the smell of her kitchen at thanksgiving is a lasting memory. Carolyn Jean Ludwig is survived by her loving husband of nearly 33 years Oscar Otto Ludwig, Jr., daughters, Rhonda Lopez, Kristy Ludwig "Jonathan Griffin", sons, Coy Young, Brian Ludwig "Paula", Byron Ludwig "Charlotte", Mike Young "Kelly", Richard Brown "Kimberly Rickman" sister, Jean Hardman "Ron", grandchildren, 13 grand- children and a beautiful host of grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Mickey Young, and a brother, Wayne Reed (RHS-1963).
