Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1962 RJC

Butch Owen MAURICE "BUTCH" ERVIN OWEN, 57, a dedicated science teacher at Arlington High School, passed away Dec. 11, 2001 in Arlington, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX. Maurice E. Owen was born to Mr. and Mrs. Owen on May 13, 1944 in Dodge City, Kan. Maurice attended Ranger Public Schools, Ranger Jr. College, North Texas State & received a Master of Science degree in secondary education. During his 22-year teaching career, he received honors in National Biological Honors Society, General Dynamics Outstanding Teacher award, recipient of five National Science Foundation Study Grants, Teacher of the Year nominee, Ft. Worth National Bank Fellowship award and the Perot Foundation award. He was also an active member in the NRA & was a certified concealed hand-gun instructor. Maurice will be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing with his family and friends and we will dearly miss him as a loving husband, father & Pa Pa. Survivors at the time of his death: wife of 35 years, Sandra Allsup (RHS-1962); son, Brandon & wife, Laurie; granddaughter, Ashley; brother, Robert Allen Owens (RHS-1963) and wife, Marlene Owen; mother-in-law, Sue Allsup; & many nieces and nephews.
