Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1978

Steve Ashworth STEVEN WAYNE ASHWORTH, 54, of Ranger, TX died on June 30, 2013 from Glicoblastoma multiforme (GBM) brain cancer. Steve was born June 5, 1959 in Seminole, TX to Bettie Sue (Currie) Grice Smith of Eastland and Earl Wayne Ashworth of Porter. He attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1978 and married Kimmie Booth (RHS-1976) in June of 1987. Steve was a roughneck and loved working in the oil field. When work was slow in the petroleum industry he worked construction, laid fiber optic lines, worked in chemical waste disposal, and any other job that would provide for his family. He has done just about every job related to the petroleum business but his main specialty was well completion. At the time of his death he owned a consulting business & was contracted by Patterson UTI Drilling Company. He is survived by his wife of Ranger; by his mother; by three daughters: Amiee Baker and husband Mike of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Rocki Hughes of Ranger; Robin Tice (RHS-1997) and husband Josh of Gordon; by two sons: Lance Fox of McKinney and MacDaniel Ashworth of Ranger; by seven grandchildren: Zephyr Tice, Grant Brown, Koi Diaz, Desi Hicks, Jordan Cook, Dyllan (RHS- 2013) & Skyi (RHS-2015) Rhyne; by three great-grand- children: Jack and Eli Diaz, & Isabell Hicks; by one sister Lesa Herod (RHS-1981) & husband Steven of Eastland; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father James Kenneth Grice (RHS-1957), and son Nicholas Wayne Ashworth, and by his grandparents Mac & Lorene Currie. Steve did not have a "bucket list" of things he wanted to do when he found out he was dying. He said, "I had a 'Huckleberry Finn' childhood, I lived, worked, and had adventures all over the country, & there is nothing I need to do or see. All I want is to enjoy my friends and family." That he did.
