SANDRA KAY DIXON FRANKS, 49, passed away
June 4, 2021, at her home in Ranger, TX, following
a long battle with various health issues.
A longtime nurse at Eastland Memorial Hospital, she
was a longtime resident of Eastland County. She was
a loving wife, a wonderful mother and a proud grand-
mother, as well as a great friend to many residents
she cared for during her life. Sandy was born on
Jan. 24, 1972, in Odessa, TX, to Rita and Leonard
(Rusty) Dixon. At an early age, she moved with her
mother, Rita, and two brothers, David & Robert (Robby)
to Breckenridge. After living there for several years,
the family moved to Ranger to be closer to her mother's
parents, the late Bobby Wells & Edna Faye Wells. Sandy
graduated from Ranger High School in 1992, and the Texas
State Technical College's School of Nursing. She worked
as a nurse at Eastland Memorial Hospital for 14 years,
and also worked for several years as a nursing instructor
at Ranger College's School of Nursing. She worked as a
nurse for more than a decade before retiring in 2017 due
to health concerns. After retiring, Sandy spent many
days volunteering as the ticket taker at the Ranger
College men's and women's basketball games. She also
volunteered, for a time, as The Quarter Store in Ranger.
Sandy met the love of her life, Daniel Franks, while
stopping at Love's Truck Stop in 2009. After dating
for two years, the couple married in Eastland in 2011
and made their home in Ranger. Prior to marrying Daniel
Franks, she had previously married Jimmy Don Graves in
1991. The couple divorced in 1995 after welcoming two
sons.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Wayne Franks of
Ranger; 3 sons, Christopher (Amanda) Graves of Eastland,
Trevor Graves of Ranger, and Jordan Jaramillo, a senior
at Ranger High School. She is also survived by two grand-
children, Arabella Graves and T.J. Graves; her father,
Leonard Dixon of Godley, TX, and her stepfather, Robert
(Bobby) Young of Breckenridge, as well as her brothers,
David (Ashley) Dixon of Wills Point, TX; and Robby of
Lovelady, TX. Sandy is also survived by her grandmother,
Edna Faye Wells,of Ranger, as well as her aunt, Barbara
Caraway of Ranger, her uncle Wayne (June) Davlin of Ranger
and her uncle Tommy (Pattie) Wells, Sr. of Gorman, and
John (Renee) Armstrong of Giddings, TX.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Henson, in
2018; her grandfather, Bobby Wells; and her uncles, Danny
Ray Wells, Sr., Virgil (Butch) Wells and Bobby Joe Wells.
