Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1994 RJC

Scott Adams SCOTT JEFFERY ADAMS, 39, of Houston, TX died on Dec. 28, 2014, as the result of an auto accident with burial at Crossroads Cemetery near Ranger, TX. Scott worked as a banker in the Houston area for fifteen years after beginning his banking career at First Texoma Bank in Durant, OK, while attending college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He was reared in Ranger, TX & graduated from Ranger High School in 1994 & attended Ranger College (1995-1996). He was pursuing a Masters' of Banking degree from Southern Methodist University at the time of his death. Scott was scheduled to begin training in January to become a Harris County Sheriff's Department reserve deputy. He was active in the support of his sons' extra- curricular activities and served on several committees for the Cy-Fair Independent School District. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Spears Adams and his grandparents. At the time of his death, he was survived by sons Harris Adams and Hollis Jenkins, ex-wife & good friend Kelly (McIntire) Adams, all of Houston; father, Guinn Adams (RHS-1966) and wife Karen of Brenham, TX; sister Megan (Adams) DeBord and husband, Cody, of Sealy, TX; special friends Natalie Li and daughter Sabrina of Houston and Dene Mangum of Bellville, TX; in-laws, Gary D. and Dena McIntire of Bokchito, OK, Holly and Joey Fitzgerald of Minco; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many well-loved friends, clients, and colleagues. MOTHER: MARY ANN SPEARS ADAMS, 58, was born Aug. 16, 1949, in Abilene, TX, to Rufus Pleas & Mary Louise (Smith) Spears. She was the grand- daughter of Dona Mae Hurley and Russell and Sadie Spears of Abilene. She attended school in Clyde, TX, where she was a fierce competitor on the basketball, volleyball and tennis courts as well as an accomplished baton twirler. After graduation, Mary Ann attended Ranger Jr. College where she met Guinn Adams (RHS-1966), her husband of 37 years. She graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in Secondary Education. Mary Ann and Guinn established their home in Ranger and welcomed their first child, Scott Adams (RHS- 1994), in 1975. Fifteen years later, they were blessed with daughter Megan. Mary Ann dedicated 20 years to being a full-time mother before she resumed her teaching career. The Adams family moved to the Houston area in 1996 and settled in Bellville, TX in 1999. Mary Ann taught English for both the Bellville and Sealy school districts where she loved her job and her students. She was an active member of the Bellville Church of Christ. Mary Ann passed away Aug. 4, 2008, after a long illness which she faced with determination. She rarely lost her sense of humor or wasted an oppor- tunity to share the sharp wit for which her family and friends loved her. Burial was at Crossroads Cemetery near Ranger, TX. At the time of her death, she was survived by her husband and daughter, Megan, of the home, son Scott and daughter-in-law Kelly, and grandsons Hollis Jenkins and Harris Adams, of Houston, TX. She is survived by brother Tommy Spears of Glenpool, OK, and brother Billy Spears; sisters Jane Roberts & husband Teddy of Abilene, TX; Frances Boyd and husband Bobby of Belton, TX; Becky Pence of Cisco, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by dear friends Dene Mangham of Bellville and Pat Greer of Ranger.
