Rickey Morton RICKEY TEMPITIST "T-BIRD" MORTON, 71 of Cisco, TX, finished his journey on this earth on Dec. 19, 2022, with burial in Cisco Cemetery. Rickey was born in Gorman, TX on May 17, 1951 to Leona Fay Gibbs Morton & Ralph Tempitist Morton. He graduated from Cisco High School in 1969 and continued his education at Cisco Jr. College obtaining an Associate's Degree in Science in 1971, then onto Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX, graduating in 1973 with a double major in chemistry and math. In his younger years he loved roller skating, riding motorcycles, archery, shooting his sling shot and taking his little sister to the movies. He had a love for Sci-Fi movies, especially Star Trek. You could say he was a true Treke. As he aged, he continued to love all of this but his main love was for his wife, children and grand- children. Rickey's children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, he loved watching his family grow up throughout the years. Rickey was a loyal, enthusiastic, and passionate Lobo to the end. He enjoyed coaching his daughter, Melissa during summer league softball. He also contributed to the Girl Scouts. Rickey T. was Broderick's (grandson) biggest fan. Rickey T. was a great role model not just to his family and friends but to the community of Cisco, his "HOME". Rickey T. never met a stranger, he was always willing to accept anyone into his family. He loved people, life, and just wanted to be a part of making life happy for everyone. Rickey T. was a member of the former East Cisco Baptist Church since birth. He married Wanelda Blount, from Santa Anna, in Aug. of 1979, at Abilene. TX. The two celebrated 43 years together, with two beautiful children, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Later in life Rickey T. decided to continue his education by achieving a composite science degree in special education. He was very invested in educating people, which included tutoring students, teaching GED classes, and of course helping his little sister pass college algebra and chemistry. He taught at Ranger High School in Ranger, TX during the 90s. Rickey was preceded in death by his mother Leona Fay Gibbs Morton, father Ralph Tempitist Morton and brother Kerry Ralph Morton. He is survived by his wife, Wanelda Blount Morton of Cisco, a son Frederick Mathew Morton of Cisco and a daughter, Melissa DeAnn Morton of Cisco. A sister, Vickilea Morton Spruill, husband Shannon, of Cisco. Five grandchildren, Broderick Tempitist Morton of Cisco, Trevor Dale Jackson of Cisco, Abigail Cecilia Woods of Cisco, Allison Danielle Jackson of Cisco, Maegan Elise Inez Jackson Hamblin, husband Tyler of Abilene. Three great-grandchildren, Celeste Elizalda of Cisco, Ishmael McDaniel of Cisco, and Lennon Hamblin of Abilene, TX.
