VIRGINIA FORSHEE SIMMONS, 79, of Pittsburg,
TX, passed away after a brief illness on Dec. 16,
2024, in Rowlett, TX.
Virginia was born on Aug. 16, 1945 in Dallas, TX,
to Virginia and Claude Jacobs. She attended Bryan
Adams High School and received her teaching degree
from North Texas State University. During her 30-
year teaching career, she taught Home Economics
for the Dallas, Ranger, Rotan, & Reagan County
Independent School Districts. Over the years,
Virginia said she enjoyed driving the bus to take
students to their many sporting events and UIL
competitions.
Her impact on hundreds of young lives is immeasurable
& will continue to resonate for decades. Her dedication
to education was a profession and a passion, and she
leaves behind an incredible legacy. In her spare time,
Virginia loved cooking, sewing, volunteering at her
church, spending time with family, reading, & playing
dominos, especially chicken foot. She also enjoyed
watching football & baseball, cheering for the Dallas
Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
Virginia is survived by her son, Michael Forshee, his
wife, Joy, and her granddaughter, Cassidy, of Forney,
TX. Her daughter-in-law is Jennifer Forshee, and her
grandchildren are Avery and Ian from Shenandoah, TX.
Virginia cherished her grandchildren, all of whom
brought her immense joy and pride.
Also survived by stepdaughter Deborah (Terry) Younggren
from Artesia, NM. Lamona Poyner from Stockton, MO. Terrie
(Mace) Hooley from Tuscola, TX. And many beloved grand-
children and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Simmons,
her parents, Claude and Virginia Jacobs, and most recently
her son Jim Forshee.
A Celebration of Life for Virginia will be held on Jan. 18,
2025, at 10:00 am at Dallas College Eastfield Campus G
Building Room G101-102.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations
be made in Virginia's name to the Rheumatoid Arthritis
Foundation. We invite you to join us in honoring her
