THELMA NIXON CROOM, 91, died on Oct. 13, 2002,
with burial in the Mt. Marison Cemetery at Strawn,
TX.
Mrs. Croom was born on Oct. 13, 1911 in Caddo, TX,
to Robert Nathaniel & Katherine (Hale) Nixon. She
was a graduate of Caddo High School and received
her teaching degree from Tarleton State College
in Stephenville. She married Fayron Lionel Croom
in April of 1941 in Ranger at Scenic Point. He
preceded her in death in 1983.
Mrs. Croom taught school in Ivan, TX, and also in Brad,
TX, at the Elm School teaching the 4th and 6th grades,
also taught drama class at Ranger, TX. She was a member
of the First Baptist Church in Ranger.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia
Darlene Croom; and also by a daughter, Sandra Kay Moore
in 1998.
Survivors at the time of her death are a daughter and son-
in-law, Fay and Jim Tilley of Ranger; brothers, Nolan D.
Nixon of Gurdon, Ark. and Winfred H. Nixon of Granbury;
sister-in-law, Mary Yeager of Fort Worth; sister and
brother-in-law, Mary Yeager of Fort Worth; sister and
brother-in-law, Lewis and Estella Croom of Wichita Falls;
grandchildren, Deborah Fay and her husband Uwen Epenyong
of Norman, OK., James Tilley and wife Adrianne of Oklahoma
City, OK., and Rebecca Tilley of Norman, OK; and several
nieces and nephews.
