JAMES E. "COACH" TETER, 63, head baseball coach at RHS
and one of the assistant football coaches, died Nov. 12,
2003, in Ranger, TX, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at
Ranger.
Coach Teter was born 1940 in Greenville to Cecil & Winna
Covington Teter. He was a graduate of Texas Christian
University in 1963 where he played tackle. He married
Saundra Jones in 1960 and later married Connie Brassfield
on May 26, 1978, in Waurika, OK. Coach Teter was a coach
for 35 years coaching in Azle, Richardson, Burkburnett,
Cotulla and Ranger, for nine years before he retired. Coach
Teter touched many young men and women's lives and coaching
was his great joy not just his job. His favorite saying was,
"Never say can't, always say we can."
An Award For Athletic Achievement: James Teter of Thomas
Jefferson High School was selected on The Dallas Morning
News All-City Football Squad for 1958.
Survivors at the time of his death were his wife, Connie
Teter of Ranger; children, Shelly Hill of Caddo Mills,
Whitney Kemper of Fort Worth, Jammy Brassfield of Ranger,
Jeremy Teter of Bridgeport, Michale Redding of Crowell
& Justin Teter of Ranger; brother, Doug Teter of Mineola;
sister, Nancy of the Fort Worth area; mother-in-law, Jean
Wallace; 11 grandchildren; & two great-grandsons.
