BILLY JOE KOERNER, SR., 67, of Ranger, TX, passed away July 15,
2009 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Burial was in
the Alameda Cemetery near Ranger.
Billy was born January 29, 1942 in Mason, TX, to parents,
Cecil & Leola (Hill) Koerner. He attended school in Ranger
and may have been in the RHS Class of 1960 before moving to
Fredericksburg where he met and married Rosalie Klaerner in
July of 1961. He was a truck driver, heavy equipment operator,
& owned and operated BJ's Service Center for 20 years. Billy
enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with family and friends.
He also enjoyed cooking barbeque for family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rosalie & four children,
Billy Koerner Jr. (RHS-1981) and wife Becky (RHS-1983) of Glen
Rose, TX; Robert Koerner of Ranger; Jennifer Stroup & husband
Jason of Blue Ridge, TX; Teresa Hughes and husband Greg of
Weatherford, Texas and seven grandchildren; Mitchell, Lauren,
and Abby Koerner; Jacob and Joshua Stroup and Bailey and Gracie
Hughes.
He is also survived by three brothers, C.J. Koerner of Abilene;
Ray Koerner of Livingston Texas; Mike Koerner of Brownwood, TX;
one sister Wanda Sue Estes of Brownwood, TX.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one
grandchild.
