ARDIS CLYDE REID, 72, died at his home in Ranger, TX, on Sept. 30,
1994, from lung cancer, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger.
Clyde Reid was born May 7, 1922 in Comanche County. He grew up in
the Beaty community, and graduated from DeLeon High School. He was
a Veteran of WW II, U.S. Army Air Corps. He married Dorothy Forehand
in November of 1950 in Breckenridge. They lived in Graham and moved
to Ranger in November, 1951. He worked for Texas Electric Service
Company for 39 years. He was a member of the Mesquite and Rusk Street
Church of Christ.
He was an avid golfer in his spare time and won many tournaments at
Lone Cedar Country Club. He played on a men's softball team in Graham
and Ranger, and was a member of the Volunteer Firemen. He performed
many selfless acts of kindness for the city of Ranger during his many
years there.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife, Dorothy Reid of
Ranger; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Larry D. Butler (both of
RHS-1970), and two grandsons, Jeff and Justin Butler of Stephenville;
a brother and sister-in-law, Loyd and Faye Reid of New Braunfels; two
nieces, Kathi and Tara Sellars of San Marcos; many friends & relatives.
WIFE: DOROTHY DEAN FOREHAND REID, 92, of Ranger, TX passed from this
life on Feb. 25, 2022, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
Dorothy was born on May 14, 1929, in Haskell County, TX to Chesley M.
and Leona Williams Forehand. She was married to her loving husband,
A.C. “Clyde” Reid, who preceded her in death in 1994. She loved to
play golf when her health allowed and she was a member of Mesquite
and Rusk Street Church of Christ in Ranger.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Glen,
Garland, and Gordon Forehand.
She is survived by her daughter: Rhonda Butler of Ranger; grandsons:
Jeff Butler of Evanston, IL and Justin Butler of Weatherford, TX;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
