DAVID TRUETT WIER was the son of Dr. & Mrs. Austin
Kenneth Wier & was born in Staff, TX, on Sept. 3, 1907.
He died around 1981 in Ranger, TX. He attended Ranger
High School in the Class of 1925. He married Maxine
Henderson in Feb. of 1935, and they had four children.
He attended Simmons College in Abilene for three years
and then transferred to the Baylor School of Medicine
in Dallas. After Truett completed his internship at
St. Louis City-County Hospital, he returned to Ranger
to practice medicine with his father.
During WWII, Major Wier served as a flight surgeon in
the U.S. Army Air Corps. He saw action in the Tunisian,
Sicilian, and Italian campaigns. From Italy, he went to
England where he participated in the invasion of France.
He mustered out in 1945, but served another tour of duty
during and immediately following the Korean conflict. Most
of the later tour was served in Japan & Korea.
Dr. Truett Wier was in private practice in Belen, NM, and
was practicing at DeLeon when he retired in the late 70's.
He is buried with his wife & one son, Donald, in DeLeon
and is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Wier. Donald
Wier (RHS-1958) was killed in an auto accident in 1962.
