PLUMMER SMITH LEMLEY, 76, died in Jan. 24, 1982,
in Ranger, TX, with burial near there in Cross Roads
Cemetery. He was born in Eastland County on Nov. 6,
1906, to Emitt S. & Mary J. Thurman Lemley. Plummber
attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1926 and
served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Nora
Frances Carothers in 1932 and she died in 2007. His
siblings were Aletha Lemley, Cottie Lemley Woods
(RHS-1924), & Mavarine Bryson (RHS-1924).

Frances was born to J.C. & Nora Belle Carothers in Milan,
MO, on March 8, 1909. As a child, she lived in Northern
Missouri, graduating from Pattonsburg High School. She
moved with her parents to Ranger, TX, in 1926. Nora
attended Ranger Jr. College & Hardin-Simmons University.
In 1932, she married Plummer S. Lemley (RHS-1926) and
they lived in Ranger & Grapeland, TX, and spent another
25 years in northern New Mexico where he was employed as
a plants manager for Southern Union Gas Company.
After retirement, they lived once again in Ranger where
her husband preceded her in death in Jan. of 1982. She
moved to Lubbock, TX in 1997 & lived there until her death.
She was a person of great faith and wisdom, a blessing to her
friends and family, a life-long active member of the Church of
Christ wherever she lived. She is survived by her only son,
Steven, of Westlake Village, CA, three grandchildren, & five
great-grandchildren.
