Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1927

Gaston & Wilda GASTON WASHINGTON DIXON, 87, was born on Dec. 27, 1908 in Victor, TX, & died June 26, 1996. Son of Ed (Ranger barber) & Vernie Carr Dixon. He attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1927 at Ranger, TX and married Wilda Forest Duke of Mingus in 1934. They had three sons, Duke Edward Dixon (RHS-1955), Dan Wayne Dixon (RHS-1959) & twins, James Lee Dixon and a daughter Jean Ann Dixon (RHS-1970). He was a mechanic and then partner and later owner/operator of Ranger Auto Parts. Talented tenor who sang at funerals, weddings, in the church choir and at other functions over a great number of years. He had two younger sisters, Belva (RHS-1927) and Imogene Dixon. He was active in community activities, serving on the Ranger Independent School District Board for many years and served on the administrative board and finance committee of the First United Methodist Church in Ranger. A granddaughter, Dana Jo Dixon (RHS-1980) & grandson David Edward Dixon (RHS-1983). Interment was in Ranger. WIFE: WILDA FOREST DUKE DIXON, wife of Gaston, was born March 24, 1911, died July 31, 1981. She was the daughter of Mary Ann (Potter) & Harvey Sylvester Duke of Mingus, TX. She was a partner with her husband in the ownership and operation of Ranger Auto Parts and active in the community. Burial was in Ranger.
