KENNETH BAILEY HOLMES, 88, died June 12, 2004, with
burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
He was born in Bonita and was raised in Medicine Mound.
He graduated from High School in Chillicothe. He served
in the U.S. Army & received the American Theater Campaign
Medal, Eame Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the
World War II Victory Medal. He married Imogene Dixon and
worked as an oil jobber for Phillips 66 Oil Company. He
was a member of First United Methodist Church. Before
retiring in Midland, they lived at Lake Leon for a number
of years. Imogene was a sister to Gaston Dixon and Belva
Dixon, both of the Ranger High School Class of 1927,
both deceased.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife;
daughters, Patricia Hindman of San Antonio and Debra
White of Midland; sons, Ronald Holmes of Abilene, and
Donald Holmes of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
WIFE: IMOGENE DOLORES DIXON HOLMES went home
to be with the Lord on Sept. 25, 2013.
Born Aug. 10, 1925, in Ranger, TX, she spent most of her
life in Van Horn, TX, where she met and married the love
of her life, Kenneth Bailey Holmes, who passed away in
2004. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger.
She was a devoted wife and mother who is survived by her
four children and their spouses, Patricia Holmes Gunn and
Tom Kennedy, Debra Holmes White and Brad White, Ronald and
Leta Holmes and Donald and Karen Holmes; eight grandchildren
and their spouses, Shai Sparks Frietze and Hector Frietze,
Kenneth-Ross and Angela Sparks, Benjamin and Meredith White,
Jacob White, Linsey Holmes, Rachael Holmes, Bailey Holmes &
Kenna Holmes; seven great-grandchildren, Eric, Christopher,
Debra Nicole and Matthew Wood, Sterling and Sloan Sparks &
Nixon White.
A member of First United Methodist Church of Midland, Imogene
had been a follower of Christ since she was 13 years old.
Known as the "songbird" in high school she played piano and
organ and sang in the church choir most of her life. She
also was an avid crocheter and knitter. She loved any
sporting event and received a basketball scholarship to
SMU.
DAUGHTER: DEBRA HOLMES WHITE, 64, was called
home on Jan. 27, 2018.
She was born Feb. 6, 1953 to Kenneth & Imogene Holmes of
Van Horn, TX. Debra loved her family, cherished her
children, adored her grandchildren and was a faithful
follower of Jesus Christ. An avid sports fan, she loved
watching the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, Midland
Christian Mustangs and Texas Tech Red Raiders. Debra
enjoyed skiing, dancing, lake living, music, animals,
laughing, loving and finding fun in everything she did.
With a heart of gold, Debra always cared for others
before herself. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-
in-law, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to countless
individuals. She lived a full and busy life and will be
missed dearly by the many whose lives and hearts she
touched.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth &
Imogene Holmes. She is survived by husband Brad White
(RHS-1969) of 43 years of Granbury, TX; son Ben, wife
Merideth, grandchildren Nixon and Briggs of Plano, TX;
son Jacob, wife Macy of Oklahoma City, OK; sister Pat
Kennedy, husband Tom of San Antonio, TX; brother Ron
Holmes, wife Leta of Abilene, TX; brother Don Holmes,
wife Karen of San Antonio and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
