Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1929

Leonard Pounds Leonard & Daisy Pounds LEONARD M. POUNDS, 85, son of Mr. & Mrs. W.G. Pounds of Ranger, TX was born Sept. 9, 1911 & died on Oct. 7, 1996. He married Daisy Woods (RHS-1937). He had a sister, Billie Faye Beskow (RHS-1944), two brothers Adron Pounds (RHS-1932) of Weatherford, Joe Bob Pounds (RHS-1941), at the time of his death. Another brother, W.G. Pounds, Jr. (RHS-1939) is deceased. He had three sons, L.H. Pounds of Plano (RHS-1965), Billy Bob Pounds of Fort Stockton and Cecil Lewis Pounds (RHS-1968); two daughters, Alyce Eileen Gooch (RHS-1961) of Big Lake & Patty Jo Callender; five grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. Leonard attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1932. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX. During WWII, Leonard served in the U.S. Navy in the Seabees, enlisting in March of 1942, and undergoing training at Camp Allen, Norfolk, VA, and Port Huenema, CA, before being sent to foreign duty in the South Pacific. He was awarded a Battle Star, AP, PL, American Defense and GCM. He was discharged in 1945. Before enlisting, he was employed by the T&P Coal and Oil Company.
