Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1937

Clarence May CLARENCE E. MAY, JR., was born in Ranger, TX on June 8, 1920, to Lydia Victoria Harrison & Clarence E. May. His father came to Ranger about 1908 and married his mother in 1911. His father was a pharmacist and drug store owner before going into oil, banking & insurance. Clarence, Jr., had two sisters, Annie Katherine who was born in 1913 and died in 1921, & Doris Mary (RHS- 1939) who married James Black Hay and died in 1984. Clarence, Jr. attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1937, Tarleton College at Stephenville, and graduated from the University of Texas with a BBA. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. He joined the U.S. Navy reserves while at UT. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy after receiving his commission when he finished the New York USNR Midshipman's school (OCS). He had training at Columbia and Ohio State Universities and later he served as an instructor at Norfolk, VA, before being ordered aboard ship in the Atlantic Fleet. He married Jane Burns in 1949 and they had two children, a daughter Linda who married Phillip Ray Jones & live in St. Louis with two sons and John Burns who is a CPA in Phoenix, AZ. Clarence, Jr., died in Phoenix on March 6, 1999. Jane Burns May died in June of 2000 at Phoenix.
