Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1940 RJC

Charles Hargrave Ruby Hargrave CHARLES W. HARGRAVE, 64, was born Aug. 8, 1922, and died in July, 1987, while living at Madill, OK. He was in the Ranger High School Class of 1940 at Ranger, TX. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. E.L. Hargrave of Ranger. He entered military service during WWII in the U.S. Navy & underwent training at the U.S. Naval Training School at San Diego and at Bainbridge, MD. He was a graduate of Ranger Jr. College and before entering the service, he was employed by the Army Wood Production Shop in Ranger. He was a licensed Baptist minister and had filled Ranger churches on several occasions. WIFE: RUBY JEANETTE SLAYTON HARGRAVE, 87, of Madill, OK passed away Aug. 13, 2014, with interment at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery in Madill, OK. She was born on Dec. 5, 1926 in Laurel, MS to the late Thomas Coleman Slayton and Lucy Arbadella Price Slayton. She played on the banks of the Gulf while attending school in Pass Christian. Ruby married Charlie Williamson Hargrave (RHS-1940) in April of 1945 in Ranger, TX. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was a pastor’s wife first and foremost, a leader in WMU (Women’s Missionary Union) in almost every church they pastored, Sunday School teacher, nursery worker, shoulder to cry on, negotiator during conflicts, and had a beautiful soprano voice that sang praises to the Lord straight from her heart. She loved going to the Baptist assembly grounds in Glorietta, New Mexico with Charlie. She witnessed for the Lord and was a Prayer Warrior extraordinaire. She supported several military charities and the International Fellowship of Christians & Jews. At the time of her death, she was survived by children: Wallace Wyanl Hargrave, Terrace, B.C. Canada, Thomas Lister Hargrave and wife Jeri Lea, Atoka, OK, Marsha Charleen Hill and husband Jerry Lee, Kingston, OK, & Evelyn Lou Hargrave, Tulsa, OK; 8 grandchildren: Zachary Brown, James Hendricks, Maj. Beau Hendricks, David Hill, Crystal Beck, Sarah Smead, A.T. Hargrave and Rebekah Kraft; 12 great-grandchildren: Jordan Hendricks, Rylee Hendricks, Hunter Beck, Aaron Beck, Colt Beck, Ethan Hendricks, Inman Hendricks, Michael Smead, Kallie Smead, Isaac Smead, Judah Hargrave and Millie Hargrave; and a sister: Evelyn Lucille Aebel, Troy, IL.
