LAVERNE MINNIE JACOBY, 90, died of a heart
attack on Aug. 3, 2012 in Hurst, TX, with burial at
Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Cemetery in Colleyville,
TX.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1922 in Ranger, TX to
Max George & May Reeves Jacoby. LaVerne attended
Hodges Oak Park School & Ranger High School in the
Class of 1940. She married Ellis E. Taliaferro and
they had a son Jerry V. Taliaferro. For four years
she studied interior decorating at Lamar University
in Beaumont.
Working on Air Force One at Qualitron Aero Inc. was
the highlight of her career. She started a successful
business of creating interior designs for private
aircraft flown by heads of state through-out the
world and large executive jets of corporations. She
enjoyed traveling, camping and bowling. LaVerne was
a member of the Ranger Exes Association and made the
huge welcome banner used at homecomings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters,
Maxine Asher (RHS-1942), Clara Mae Jacoby Watson
(RHS-1952), Claudine Jacoby Dyer (RHS-1937); and
brothers Douglas Jacoby (RHS-1949) & Mellenger Jacoby
(RHS-1936). She was the last living sibling of her
family.
At the time of her death, she was survived by her son
Jerry Taliaferro and his wife Linn, 10 grandchildren,
6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and
many friends.
